Monster Hunter Rise sounded full and detailed through the headset. I couldn’t pinpoint the exact sources of distant sounds, but I got a general idea of their locations. In testing I was able to clearly discern footsteps from gunshots while playing Apex Legends and appreciated the audio's directionality. It lacks the precision of actual THX Spatial Audio, which you can add through the separate THX Spatial Audio app ($19.99). The Kraken Kitty V2 Pro's 7.1 simulated surround sound works well, despite it appearing as THX Spatial Audio in the Synapse app. The treble finesse and bass strength are there, though, and you can use the EQ in Synapse to tweak how things sound. Those elements lacked mid-range body, indicating a somewhat scooped-out sound signature. When the track properly kicked in, the bassline stayed punchy while letting the cymbals, guitar strums, and vocals shine. In our tests, the opening acoustic guitar plucks in Yes’ “Roundabout” sounded full and featured strong string texture in the higher frequencies. The best bass comes with a stereo signal because that’s generally how it’s mixed. However, the simulated surround sound mode tamped down the thumping. In addition, the kick drum hits came close to head-rattling levels of low-frequency response. It handled our bass test track, The Knife’s “Silent Shout,” at maximum volume with no distortion.

The Kitty V2 Pro pumps out fairly strong bass. Powerful Sound With Decent Surround and an Excellent Mic
It lacks wired analog and wireless connection options. You can use the headset with a docked Nintendo Switch, and with the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The 7.1-channel surround is surprising to see when the much cheaper Razer BlackShark V2 ($99.99) features superior THX Spatial Audio, as does the wireless Razer Kraken V3 Pro ($199.99). Besides programming the RGB lighting, Synapse enables 7.1-channel simulated surround sound and provides 10-band EQs for both headphone and mic audio, along with a variety of tweakable features like bass boost, mic noise cancellation, and voice clarity. The Razer Kraken Kitty V2 Pro is designed for wired use with a PC, and you can customize its lights with the Razer Synapse software.
Cosplay Mode only supports static colors, color cycling, and color “breathing” modes you can't customize colors. If you want the ears to light up on the go, Cosplay Mode lets you run the lights from a USB power bank. The lights match the earcups' outsides, but you can program each ear and earcup to display different colors and effects using Chroma Studio in Razer’s Synapse software. The ears' exteriors match the headset's color, while the forward-facing inside surface features translucent white plastic with RGB lighting. Instead of just triangular cat ears, each headset also has a set of long, oval bunny ears and a set of small, circular bear ears. This is where the headset’s ears plug in, and they represent one of the biggest upgrades to the V2. The Kitty part of the Kraken Kitty V2 Pro comes from the two connectors on the headband's top. It’s slightly bulky, but feels pleasantly plush. The headband's underside is padded with slightly firmer foam, with the same leatherette. They're surrounded in faux leather along the sides and breathable fabric on the surfaces. The memory foam earpads are big enough to completely and comfortably cover most ears. The 6.7-foot, fabric-wrapped cable is permanently attached to the left earcup and terminates in a USB-A plug. The left earcup holds a volume wheel, a mic mute switch, and a port for the detachable boom mic.
